Holdings Journal Privacy Policy

Effective August 30, 2026

Holdings Journal is a personal record-keeping tool. We value your privacy and data security. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information.

1. Information We Collect

  1. Account information, including email address, user ID, sign-in status, and verification-code delivery records.
  2. Information you enter, including account names, assets and holdings, transactions and cash flows, liability names, categories, institutions, balances, currencies, balance dates, change reasons, notes, tags, groups, and historical statistics.
  3. Screenshot import information. When you actively select this feature and confirm authorization, we process the images you choose to identify visible names, codes, amounts, units, returns, and transaction details and create an editable draft.
  4. Device and diagnostic information, which may include device type, operating-system version, error logs, API failures, and crash information.
  5. Feedback you choose to send, including contact details and attachments, for troubleshooting and replies.

2. How We Use Information

  1. Create and maintain your account.
  2. Provide record-keeping, historical statistics, screenshot import, widgets, and alerts.
  3. Send sign-in codes, password-reset codes, and necessary service notifications.
  4. Diagnose failures, respond to feedback, and improve reliability and security.
  5. Prevent unauthorized access, misuse, and abnormal requests.

We do not use your holdings, transactions, or screenshots for advertising tracking, profiling, or purposes unrelated to the app’s record-keeping functions.

3. Third-Party Services

  1. Cloud servers and databases for account and record storage.
  2. Email services for sign-in and password-reset verification codes.
  3. Image-recognition services. Only after you actively choose screenshot import and confirm authorization, the selected images are uploaded to the Holdings Journal server and sent to Alibaba Cloud Model Studio image recognition to create an editable draft. The current model is qwen3.7-flash.
  4. Public data sources for reference data, dates, and price changes used by record-keeping features.

Screenshot import never starts automatically. You can cancel and enter a record manually. Third parties process information only as needed for the relevant function. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data Storage

Account information, assets and holdings, transactions, liability balance history, and net-worth statistics are stored on our servers so you can access and synchronize them across devices. Liability information is entered by you. The current version does not connect to banks or lenders for account credentials and does not infer borrowing, repayment, interest, or spending from balance changes. The current production service is hosted in mainland China. Information submitted by users outside mainland China may therefore be transferred to and stored in mainland China.

When records are deleted, they are removed or marked for deletion from the business database within a reasonable period. Some information may remain temporarily in backups or security records as required for recovery, auditing, or legal compliance.

After screenshot recognition fails, compressed copies of that attempt are saved as feedback attachments only with your explicit consent on the failure page. These attachments are automatically deleted from the business database after 90 days; feedback text and diagnostics are retained. Database backups kept for disaster recovery may still contain copies made before deletion. Their removal time depends on the backup retention policy. The 90-day automatic deletion period applies only to the business database. Cancelling does not upload or save failed screenshots. This automatic deletion period does not apply to ordinary feedback attachments.

5. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS transport, access controls, separation of secrets, restricted backend permissions, and ongoing security fixes. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can view, correct, export, or delete the asset and liability records you enter. Deleting your account also removes liability identities, balance history, and related derived net-worth data together with other account data; some information may remain temporarily in backups or security records as required for recovery, auditing, or law. You can delete your account under Me → Account Settings or contact us to request access, correction, or deletion. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

7. Children

Holdings Journal is not directed to children. Minors should use the app only with the consent and guidance of a guardian.

8. Service Boundary

Holdings Journal is for recording and reviewing personal assets, liabilities, ledgers, and historical statistics. Net-worth results are calculated from information you enter and public price and exchange-rate data; they are not account statements, credit assessments, financial advice, investment advice, or repayment advice. The app does not open accounts, execute trades, recommend assets, predict returns, or manage assets.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this policy as the product, law, or services change. The updated page will show a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or another reasonable channel.
